Onalaska School Board Meeting - September 24, 2007
On the Consent Agenda, the Board approved:
Hiring Savannah Stanley to the C volleyball coaching position
Accepting the resignation of Nancy Ulmer as a bus driver
Hiring Michael Kelly for Middle School assistant football coaching
Jamie Niemi for maternity leave
The resignation of Doug Abrahamson from his Prom Coordinator position after 22 years and hiring Brandy Dean to replace him
Field trip of O.A.S.I.S. to Portland in October
Changing the Procedure 5000 to align with the new Policy 5000
Delegations-
Denny Daniels- High School Counselor- discussed the current graduation requirements from the Office of the Supt. of Public Instruction. He said that only four students from the class of 2008 have yet to meet standards and that he is optimistic that all will finish.
Superintendent Dr. Dale McDaniel reported:
The radar traffic speed signs are working and very effective in reducing speed on Carlisle Avenue.
The Digital Reader-board is very popular. It is being used constantly with new messages.
Ridership Week will be October 1-5, 2007.
The negotiations with the Transportation Union are complete.
Our enrollment count is about 15 students low, but we expect it to rise.
A great turnout occurred at both the elementary and middle school open house.
We are making plans for a levy in the spring of 2008. Details will come in a proposal next month.
The P.A.S.S. program already has 32 parents enrolled. This program will allow parents to see their childs grades over the Internet by use of a password. School secretaries issue the passwords.
Andrea Peterson Day was held at the school on Sept. 20. A great day of celebration and visiting occurred with students and adults. Andrea is the 2007-2008 National Teacher of the Year and is a 1991 graduate of Onalaska Schools.
Action and Information Items:
1. The Board approved the contract for Jeff Ault, second grade teacher.
2. The Board approved ratification of the Transportation Union Agreement for 2007-2008.
3. The Board approved a resolution to increase the petty cash for the high school lunch program.
