SENIOR AWARD CEREMONY FORMS – Due April 29
SENIORS - Onalaska High School is extremely proud of the numerous accomplishments garnered by the Class of 2025 Seniors, including scholarships and awards for both academics and athletics. It is our pleasure to host the 2025 Onalaska High School Senior Awards Ceremony on Tuesday, May 27, where you could be honored for the awards and/or scholarships you have received. To do so, we will need some information about your post-secondary plans.
The Senior Awards Ceremony honors all verified scholarship offers you have received, even if you are not planning on attending the school or program that offered a scholarship. If you would like to have your scholarships and awards acknowledged at the event, complete the attached form with your scholarship information, attach copies of your scholarship award letters that go with each award, and return them to Ms. Baker in the Career Center no later than 3:00 pm on April 29. If you need a new form or more information on how to fill it out, see Ms. Baker in the Career Center.

JUNIORS: START PLANNING FOR SENIOR YEARIt’s Spring of your Junior year so now is the time to focus on solidifying your post-graduation plans by taking standardized tests, visiting colleges, tech and trade schools, potential employers offering internships, and preparing for the summer and senior year. You should also choose challenging courses and start brainstorming for admissions and scholarship essays. Additionally, you should begin to explore financial aid options and start your scholarship search.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Standardized Tests:
• Schedule and take the SAT or ACT.
• If needed, prepare for a retake in the fall of senior year.
2. Colleges/Tech & Trade School Visits:
• Make the most of spring and summer break and other opportunities to visit campuses.
• Consider visiting different types of colleges (large vs. small, public vs. private), tech schools, trade schools and potential employers offering internships to explore their fit.
3. Course Selection and Academic Focus:
• Choose challenging courses for senior year, including advanced courses and AP classes if appropriate.
• Maintain a strong academic record and prepare for AP exams if applicable.
4. Colleges/Tech & Trade School Research and Planning:
• Research and build a list of potential colleges, tech or trade schools.
• Start brainstorming ideas for admission and scholarship essays and identify potential essay topics.
• Request letters of recommendation from teachers.
5. Financial Planning and Scholarship Search:
• Research financial aid options and create a budget.
• Start applying for scholarships, as some deadlines may be in the spring.
6. Summer Plans:
• Plan activities and projects for the summer to demonstrate interests and skills on applications.
• Consider working or volunteering to gain experience and build skills.
7. Connect with Resources:
• Meet with school counselors to discuss senior year classes, post-graduation plans and resources.
• Seek guidance from mentors or advisors.

VARSITY TUTORS – Ongoing
The Varsity Tutors Platform gives students more opportunities to learn at their own pace. 24/7 on-demand chat tutoring and on-demand essay review are live tutoring resources to help your student with any questions about homework, classwork, or test prep. Live group classes, recorded classes, and celebrity-led StarCourses allow your student to learn more about the subjects they’re interested in and add a touch of fun. Assessments and self-study practice problems provide opportunities to drill skills towards mastery. And college prep & admissions resources ensure that your student has the best resources available to secure their future.
Students will log into their account by going to the Varsity Tutors website and using their OHS email and password. This is being offered to students in grades 9-12. Students can gain access to the program through the company’s website at https://www.varsitytutors.com/login using their school email address. OLYMPIA MASTER BUILDERS SCHOLARSHIP – Deadline May 2The Olympia Master Builders (OMB) Education Foundation is accepting applications for scholarship grants ranging up to $2500 to college or vocational/technical school-bound students, who currently reside within Thurston, Lewis, Mason, Pacific or Grays Harbor Counties.
Students intending to pursue studies leading to a career in the building industry such as: engineering, architecture, drafting, industrial design, carpentry, construction management, etc. are encouraged to apply. LEWIS COUNTY PUBLIC UTILITY DISTRICT (PUD) – Apply Now
The Lewis County PUD has a number of summer seasonal, and internship positions available.
CF Summer Seasonal: The position is assigned to the Cowlitz Falls Hydroelectric Project, primarily for the upkeep of park facilities and of wildlife lands. Work may also involve construction and/or maintenance activities on other Project facilities.
Operations Summer Seasonal: The Operations Summer Seasonal position works out of the Districts Operations Center performing a variety of entry level activities as needed. The recruitment is for multiple vacancies for both Morton and Chehalis locations.
GIS Intern: The GIS Intern will provide temporary assistance to the Engineering Department with a variety of projects and tasks; including but not limited to field work, preparing, and updating maps, accurately recording and documenting activities.
Office Support Intern: The Office Support Intern will provide temporary assistance with a variety of projects and tasks. This position may support multiple departments throughout the district; to include but not limited to Human Resources, Safety, Records, Engineering and Energy Services.

A free one-week residential program designed to introduce HS students to various transportation topics, including urban planning, traffic safety, supply chain logistics, and connected and autonomous vehicles. UNIVERSITY OF DAYTON HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER CAMPS – Deadline May 16
Female Aspiring Business Scholars (FABS) summer program - FABS is a four-day, overnight camp offered by UD’s School of Business Administration that provides young women hands-on learning through team projects, leadership experience, career exploration and mentorship. Campers will build skills essential for success in college and business, connect with peers, and experience life as a UD student. This camp is designed for rising juniors and seniors. We invite campers of all identities, backgrounds and experiences to participate.
Location: University of Dayton campus
Dates: June 22-25, 2025
Cost: The $300 total cost includes lodging, meals, activity materials, camp T-shirt and water bottle. A $100 nonrefundable deposit is due upon registration and is included in the total cost. Financial assistance is available. Families should indicate on the registration form if they would like to be considered for financial assistance, and we will contact them with additional information.

Summer engineering experiences at UD (SEE-UD) - SEE-UD camps offered by our School of Engineering provide students with an opportunity to explore the diverse fields of engineering and learn more about engineering at UD through interactive modules and hands-on lab experiences. At our three daylong camps on June 16, 17 and 18, participants will learn about a specific discipline of engineering while striving to solve problems our world faces today.
Location: University of Dayton campus
Dates: Each day features one or two engineering disciplines. Participants may attend multiple days if interested. On days with two disciplines, the sessions will run at the same time, and students will choose which session to attend.
June 16: Choose from Mechanical Engineering or Chemical Engineering
June 17: Engineering Technology
June 18: Choose from Electrical and Computer Engineering or Civil Engineering
Time: 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
Cost: $100 per day (lunch included). Discounts available for students attending multiple days
Optional Daily Opportunities: Campus tour (3:30-4:30 p.m.), Women Engineering Program and Multi-Ethnic Engineers Program engagement and campus tour (3-5 p.m.), Parent and guardian programming: Three optional programs are available at no cost ($10 lunch optional).
The SEE-UD registration will close when capacity is reached. We anticipate all camps to fill quickly.
